Freddy Lamar Verner

April 13, 1958 — February 20, 2026

Tallapoosa

Freddy Lamar Verner, age 67 of Tallapoosa, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on April 13, 1958, in Tallapoosa, Georgia, he was the son of the late Norris Glenn Verner, Sr. and the late Mary Ellen Ballew Verner.

Freddy was well-known in his community as the owner and operator of Classic Designs Upholstery in Buchanan, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail were hallmarks of his work. He was not only skilled in upholstery but also was talented in woodworking and took pride in running his saw mill. He found joy in the great outdoors, particularly through deer hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Farming also held a special place in his heart, planting his gardens bigger and better each year. Freddy cherished time spent with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his four-legged companions, Jezabell, Lula, Whiskey and Waylon. Freddy never took a step that his dogs were not with him. Freddy's warmth extended beyond his family to his close friends, including his best friends, Keith Brown and Davey West.

Freddy is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Kim Verner; his son, William Verner; his siblings Starla & Steve Van Wieren, of Woodstock, Glenn & Charlene Verner, Robbye & Jessica Verner; his precious grandchildren Brooke, Katelyn, and Logan; his great-grandchild on the way, Ellen Nicole; and several nieces and nephews who will undoubtedly carry on his spirit.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 23rd, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

A celebration of Freddy's life will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at 11:00 AM at his favorite place at his home by the creek with Pastor Ricky Shirley officiating and eulogies by family and friends.

The family requests for those desiring to honor Freddy to donate to Hunting for the Cure, a nonprofit organization that shares smiles with children fighting cancer through the great outdoors. You may donate at huntingforthecure.org or mail a check to Hunting for the Cure, PO Box 9159, Augusta, GA 30916.
