Mr. Willie Carl Ward, age 77 of Waco, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in a local hospital. He was born on October 13, 1944, in Cleburne County, AL, to the late Mary Elizabeth Miles Ward and the late Willie Edward Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Clayton, a brother Charles Ward, and grandchildren, Chad Van Coillie, Jaden Clayton, and Destiney Agan. Carl was an avid hunter who loved running his beagles with his buddies at the hunting club. Watching Alabama play football was one of his passions, also.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Virginia Ward of Waco; daughters, Regina (Billy) Cook of Centre, AL; Cathy Van Coillie of Waco; Debbie Mulkey of Weedowee, AL; and Cathy (Charles) Agan of Temple; a son Terry Clayton of Waco; a sister, Margie (Randy) Hill of Lake Park, FL; and brothers, Harvey Ward of Ranburne, AL; Gary (Betty) Ward of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Scotty (Donna) Ward of Whitesburg. Also surviving are his precious grandchildren, Josh Neal, Sean Van Coillie, Kelsey Clayton, Whitney Agan, and Jeremiah Clayton; and his great grandchildren, Lexi and Alex Neal, as well as many friends.
Funeral services for Carl Ward will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 17, 2021, from Highlands Baptist Church in Tallapoosa with Rev. Barry Hutcheson and Rev. Gary Ward officiating with Ricky Shaw delivering the eulogy. Music will be provided by Greg Patterson, Linda Patterson, and Angie Allbright. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
