Vassie "Eldis" (Ridley) Perry

Mrs. Vassie "Eldis" Ridley Perry, age 92, of Beaufort, SC, former longtime resident of Buchanan, GA, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020, at home in Beaufort.  She was born in Buchanan on July 1, 1928, to the late Annie Baxter Ridley and Charlie Alexander Ridley, Jr. 

Eldis and her husband Harvie "Crick" Perry were married 50 years before his death in 1994.  As many women who lived in Buchanan, Eldis was a longtime employee of the Arrow Shirt Company. After her retirement, she became the Director of the Tallapoosa Senior Center and spent 18 enjoyable years managing the activities there.  Eldis was also a member of the Red Hat Society along with many of her friends from Buchanan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Crick, Eldis was predeceased by two sisters, Ruby Verner and Lucy Eaves; and two brothers, Hal B. Ridley and Billy Ridley.

She is survived by her only daughter and son-in-law, Jacklyn and John Dansby of Beaufort, SC; two grandchildren, Susan Jacklyn (Tom) Graziano and Rick Ridley (Betsy) Linder; five great-grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsey) Sather, Sarah Sather, Jack Linder, Gigi Graziano, and Tag Graziano; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Eldis Perry will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. from the Buchanan First Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for many years.  Rev. Dr. Allen Wilburn will be officiating the service and Rev. Van Brown will share the eulogy.  Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Jolaine Sims and Mrs. Martha Hardin. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Buchanan First Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
