Tommy Chatman Obituary

Tommy Lanier Chatman, age 66 of Franklin, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Born on August 30, 1956, in Heard County, he was the son of the late Henry Lanier Chatman and the late Bernice Marie Buchanan Chatman.  In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his daughter Merina LaRae Nolen and a brother, Michael Chatman.

After graduating from Heard County High School, Tommy became an auto mechanic.  His passion was cars.  He retired as a mechanic and auto parts manger in LaGrange, but he was always available to help family and friends with any mechanical issue with their cars.  He was a tinkerer at heart.  He also enjoyed watching television, especially the NCIS series.  But his family was the love of his life.  Tommy loved playing with his grandchildren and watching them grow up.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 42 years, Merina Sheets Chatman; his daughters, Shelly (Ray) Veitenheimer, Jena Leigh Chatman, Isabelle June Chatman, and Mary Katherine Chatman; his sons, Buster Lee (Shantell) Breed and Adam Lanier Chatman; his sisters, Teresa (Leroy) Hobbs and Mary Chatman; and his brothers, Terry Chatman and Scott Chatman.  Also surviving are his precious grandchildren: Michael Bradley (Rebecca) Nolen, Kimberly Merina (Dustin) Richards, Dustin Lee Jones, Kevin Veitenheimer, Angela (Jarrad) Harrington, Breanna Veitenheimer, Sara Veitenheimer, Bailee Chatman, and Lacey Anderson; and his great-grandchildren, Michael Nolen and Aubrey Perrault.

In accordance with his wishes, Tommy will be cremated.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of the Chatman family.
