Mary Shirley Boyce, age 81 of Bremen, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at her residence due to a tragic golf cart accident. Born on August 11, 1941, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Zead Sullivan and the late Bernell Williams Sullivan. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward Boyce; her brothers, Gene Sullivan, Larry Sullivan and Richard Sullivan; her grandson, Ben Garner and her great granddaughter, Ralyx Price.
Shirley retired from Arrow Shirt Company where she worked many years as a supervisor in quality control and had moved to a position in the office. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing clothes for her family and she also enjoyed her beautiful flowers. As a "handy woman," Shirley could complete any do-it-yourself project she put her mind to. Going to their mountain home to relax and weekends gambling were two of her favorite pastimes. But her true passion was her family, especially spending time with her grands and great-grands.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Gary Singleton and Lisa and Richie Grimshaw; her son, Donnie Boyce, all of Bremen; her sisters, Willene Howard and Imagene (Roy) Gilbert, all of Forsyth; her brother, Ray Sullivan of Bremen; and her grandchildren: Eric (Sarah) Dobson, Kyle (Tabitha) Garner, Ryan (Alison) Dobson, Whitney Vines, Ashton Boyce, Courtney (Andrew) Benjamin, Brooke Gibbs, and Morgan Grimshaw. Also surviving are her. precious great-grandchildren: Laina Vines, Zed Garner, Kase Garner, Ben Garner, Juanita Benjamin, Garner Benjamin, Cloee Crews, Ella Boyce, Adalynn Jay, Maddox Jay, Paxton Gibbs, Payne Gibbs, Hank Dobson, Jack Dobson, and Charlie Reese Dobson, as well as numerous other extended family members.
A celebration of life for Shirley Boyce will be conducted on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 3:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with eulogies given by the grandchildren and message by Gary Singleton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour..
