Mrs. Sharna Kay Kettering Thomas, age 80 of Carrollton, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Ray and Echo Statler Kettering. Kay was an elementary school teacher for forty years and was retired from Parkway Elementary School in Rockford, OH. She held a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in administration from Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. With her passion for travel, she formed a tour company after her retirement. Kay was very active in her church and assisted with the children and youth programs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockford, OH, and Carrollton, GA.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, John Howard Thomas of Carrollton; her daughters, Diane & Keith Martin of Carrollton and Patsy & Jim Deerhake of Greenville, SC; her son Mark & Samantha Thomas of Alpharetta, GA; her sisters, Karen & Wayne Roell of Bradenton, FL, and Kathy McHie of Washington, DC; and her brother, Keith & Kris Kettering of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Owen Thomas, Caroline Thomas, and Brad Deerhake, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, Kay was cremated. Her family plans to hold services later.
