Robert Wayne Coffey, age 82 of Bremen, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, at a local hospital. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 9, 1940, he was the son of the late George Coffey and the late Ethel Wheeler Coffey. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Coffey, Joe Coffey, and Gary Coffey.
After graduating Wilson High School, Robert enlisted in the United States Army where he served stateside and in Panama. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Expert Marksman Medal. Robert retired from the Firestone Tire Company in Albany, Georgia. He loved to bake cakes and was known as "Bobby the Baker" to many. To his family he was known as "Pawp" and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching old western movies.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Pebbles Harvey Coffey; his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Maria Coffey of Andrews, South Carolina; his daughters and son-in-law, Melissa Coffey of Villa Rica and Mandy and Bud Griffie of Villa Rica; and a sister Brenda McMichael of Villa Rica. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Brandon Coffey, Tiffer Coffey, Ryan Griffie, Daymion Scaffe, Tiffany Griffie, Presley Griffie, Macey Griffie, and Alyssa Coffey; and two great granddaughters: Skylar Elizabeth Coffey and Everleigh Griffie Jones.
In accordance with Mr. Coffey's wishes, he will be cremated.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is entrusted with the cremation needs of the Coffey family.
