Mary Alice (Evans) Cain

Mary Alice Evans Cain, 90, went home to be with her Lord on August 20, 2022. She was born on July 6, 1932, in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late William L. Evans and the late Ruby Brock Evans. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, J. F. “Jude” Cain; her brother Carlton Evans; her niece Donna Cain; her cousin who was more like a sister Carolyn Grogan Saunders; and cousins Sandra Brock Johnson, Tommie Grogan Love, Margie Grogan Turner, Billy Brock, Leonard House, and Floyd Brock.

Mary was called sweet by many who knew her, but she also had a funny and feisty side. She loved to laugh and joke with her family. She enjoyed reading and traveling and loved working in her yard as long as she was able. She dearly loved her family, immediate and extended, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was Granmary to them and to several others who weren’t even related to her. Mary was a faithful Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bremen. She was known to many as the lady who worked at Garrett Drugstore for years.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Jan Cain of Carrollton, Julie and Craig Newman of Bremen; her grandson Jonathon and Christi Newman of Trussville, Alabama; her granddaughter Haley and Chris Covalli of Jefferson, Maine; four great-grandchildren Jocelyn Covalli, Dean Covalli, and Jude Covalli, all of Jefferson, Maine, and Evan Newman of Trussville, Maine; sister-in-law Butch Evans of Senoia, Georgia; nieces Charlotte Evans of Senoia, Dr. Amanda Cain, Anna and Joel Stewart, Amy and Chris Badura, all of Gainesville, Georgia; nephews Rick and Pam Cain of Tallapoosa, Bill Evans of Peachtree City; cousins Linda Thrower, Dianne Stephenson, Nellie Ruth Hannah, Greg Brock, and Doug Brock, all of Waco, Doris Grogan Wright of Ranburne, Alabama, and Joan Brock Cadle of Dahlonega, Georgia..

Visitation will be on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 2:00 to 3:00 at Bremen First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM at the church with Reverend Herman Parker and Reverend Hunter Roe officiating.. Music will be provided by Alicia Brock, Andy Fowler, and Maxine House. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Jonathon Newman, Chris Covalli, Greg Brock, Doug Brock, Jerry House, Rick Cain, Ean Cain, and Seth Cain serving as pallbearers.
