Martha Lee (Davis) Wilburn

Mrs. Martha Lee Davis Wilburn, age 98, of Buchanan, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019. She was born on March 5, 1921 in Carroll County to the late Samuel Allen Davis and the late Mattie Ophelia Jones Davis. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Howard Raymond Wilburn; five sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Wilburn had much love for people and especially her family. She was known as mama or mawmaw to all. She loved to fish and craft, especially making crafts like scarves and hats for gifts. She and her husband moved to Haralson County in 1952 and started a farm where they raised chickens and vegetable farming. She retired from Arrow Shirt Company after 28 plus years. She continued her work with a nursing home, daycare, and sitter to elderly. She was truly a Godly woman and was a member of Tallapoosa East Baptist Church.

Survivors include her three daughters and son-in-law, Jerry Ann Griffin of McDonough, Linda Gail and Lenn Dennis of Buchanan and Debra Lee Thompson of Buchanan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Judy Wilburn of Bremen and Rodney James and Sherry Wilburn of Tallapoosa; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Doris Griffin, Keith and Wesley Griffin, Anita and Allen Hunt, Deandra and Daryl Wulf, Joel and Bridgett Dennis, Glenn Dennis, Amber Wilburn, Mark and Katy Wilburn, Jason and Vicki Swann, Kristie and Dwayne Dowdy and Dr. Joshua and Yvonne Wilburn; eighteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Henderson age 100, Rudene Daniel age 93 and her special friend of sixty-seven years, Mrs. Louise Langley, as well as, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Tallapoosa East Baptist Church with Reverend Rodney Wilburn, Reverend W.A. Ivey and Dr. Mason Bush officiating. Mrs. Wilburn will lie in state from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Music will be rendered by Martin Griffin and Bernard Whitton.

Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Griffin, Keith Griffin, Joel Dennis, Glenn Dennis, Mark Wilburn, Jason Swann, Dr. Joshua Wilburn and Brett Dennis.

The family will receive friends at Tallapoosa East Baptist Church on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
