Martha Elizabeth (Williams) Freeland

Martha Elizabeth Williams Freeland, age 81 of Carrollton, passed away on February 26, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 16, 1941, in Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Earl Williams and Susie Edwards Williams.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Jesse Williams.

Martha loved to travel, listen to country music, and spend time with her family. Spoiling her great-grandkids was her favorite pastime  Martha loved the mountains of North Georgia, especially their home in Hiawassee.  She and Douglas treasured their great friends who were often their traveling companions.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 63 years, Douglas Freeland of Carrollton; her daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Phillip Young of Carrollton; her granddaughter, Devin and Danny Hornbuckle, and her precious great-grandchlldren: Daniel Hornbuckle, Abigail Hornbuckle, Carson Hornbuckle, Bennett Hornbuckle, Emmersyn Hornbuckle, Finley Hornbuckle, and Granger Hornbuckle.  She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Kelly of Mobile, Josie (Larry) Hipp of Mobile, and Judy (Bobby) Busby of Mobile; her brothers, Curtis (Sylvia) Williams of Birmingham, and Bobby (Joyce) Williams of Mobile; and her sister-in-law, Marjie Williams of Mobile; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, Martha Freeland will be cremated.  Her family is planning a memorial service at a later date.
