Lewis Byron Richards

Mr. Lewis Byron Richards, age 69, of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016.  Mr. Richards was born in Buchanan, Georgia on October 21, 1946.  He was the son of the late Lawrence Richards and the late Vivian Carden Richards.  Mr. Richards was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam and was retired from Lockheed Martin.  He was a member and deacon at Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shelma Worthy Richards of Buchanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Kevin Haynes of Buchanan; one son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Kim Richards of Buchanan; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Hoyt Layton of Tallapoosa; one brother and sister-in-law, Buel and Peggy Richards of Buchanan; four grandchildren, Cody Maria, Kensley Maria, Presley and her husband C.J. Meeks and Luke Richards; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 15, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. from Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Van Brown, Rev. Bryan McGarity and Rev. Ronald Carroll officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Bryan McGarity and Kevin McBrayer.  Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Stan Clarke, Gene McCollum, Charles Dewberry, John Crowe, Donald Cobb and Matt Young.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Ryan Worthy, Larry Hardin and Travis York.  The Haralson County Veterans Association will provide military honors at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:0 P.M. until 9:0 P.M.
