Larry Ellis Obituary

Mr. Larry Reed Ellis, age 76 of Tallapoosa, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 13, 2021.  He was born July 5, 1944, in the Buncombe community to the late Hazzie Reed Ellis and Margaree Wilson Ellis.  In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a son, Shane Ellis; two sisters, Myrlene Phillips and Agnes Morgan; and four brothers, Junior Ellis, John "Buddy" Ellis, Winston Ellis, and Terry Ellis.  He was a proud US Army veteran having served in Vietnam, and he retired as a fork lift driver from the Hon Company in Cedartown.

Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his precious grandchildren.  He was an avid University of Georgia supporter and loved watching all sports.  Larry enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, win or lose, and traveling the United States and vacationing with his family. He also loved the Haralson County Rebels and watching his grandkids cheer and play football. He coached rec softball and baseball in Tallapoosa for many years and touched the lives of many kids during that time. On any given day you would find Larry sitting on his back porch listening to his favorite music.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Ava Collins Ellis; daughter and son-in-law, Tunya and Chris Parker; and son and daughter-in-law, Nic and Tiana Ellis, all of Tallapoosa.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Maggie Parker, Benny Parker, Heidi Ellis, Raylin Ellis, Paxton Ellis and Tucker Ellis; as well as sisters, Evelyn Brooks of Tallapoosa, Margaret Mann of Bremen, and Martha and Clarence Bright of Tallapoosa; and many nieces and nephews..

A celebration of life for Larry Ellis will be conducted Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 4:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Tunya Parker and Rev. Aaron Johnson speaking.
