Born September 25th, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia, Joseph Daniel Tanner passed away Tuesday, December 27th, 2022. The son of the late Joseph Monroe Tanner and Betty Tarbush Tanner, Danny lost his long-fought battle with illness and passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He spent his prime days helping construct various buildings in the boom of growth in downtown Atlanta in the 80’s and 90’s learning to his retired years teaching his kids and grandkids those skills he’d learned. From studying U.S. and World History, to reading and learning about our local Northwest Georgia history, to immersing himself in family genealogy and lineage, to his favorite hobby – spending time with his precious grandchildren, Danny’s kids and grandkids were what kept him going in the last chapter of life.
Danny is preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and his brother Timothy Tanner. He is survived by is mother, Betty Tanner (Douglasville), wife Vicki Tanner (Bremen), daughter and spouse Amanda & Nick Robertson (Powder Springs), son and spouse Chad & Molly (Blevins) Tanner (Villa Rica), daughter Alicia Tanner (Cleveland, TN), sister and spouse Sharon & Gary Turner (Douglasville), brother and spouse James & Rhonda Tanner (Cedartown), sister-in-law Kathy Tanner (Winston-Salem, N.C.), & his precious grandchildren Krista Morrow (Bremen), Reece & Tanner Robertson, and Willa Tanner.
Honoring Danny’s last wishes, there will be no memorial service and/or visitation, and he will be cremated. His final resting place will be to join those preceding him in death at the Tanner family cemetery in Ellenwood in the coming weeks with a small, private family ceremony.
