Jodie Lee Shoemaker, age 54 of Buchanan, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at his residence. Born on June 13, 1969, in Fulton County. he was the son of the late Gloria Dover Hyatt and the late Ronald Eugene Shoemaker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lamar Shoemaker, and a grandchild, Jasmine Hudgins.
Jodie was a talented mechanic, specializing in diesel engines. He loved music, especially playing the guitar and the drums. An outdoorsman, Jodie enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Joey Shoemaker of Buchanan, Jessica Leann (Shelby) Nguyen of Buchanan, and Brittany (Trey Hudgins) Dorsey of Tallapoosa; his sister, Teresa (Lewis) Prater of Buchanan; and his precious grandchildren: Haylee Shoemaker, Kyrie Hudgins, Justice Nguyen, and Riot Nguyen. Also surviving are nephews, Ricky Hyatt and John Cooper and niece, Keshia Holcombe; and a number of great nieces and nephews and other family members.
Funeral services for Jodie Shoemaker will be conducted on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3:00 PM, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Piney Woods Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
