Jimmy Lamar Sanders

Jimmy Lamar Sanders, age 84 of Tallapoosa, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 27, 2023.  Born in Haralson County on September 15, 1938, he was the only son of the late Roscoe Lamar Sanders and Gladys Loveless Sanders.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Alene Sanders and Rachel Sanders Dyer.

Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army and spent most of his life in service to others.  When he retired, he was the maintenance supervisor at the Murphy-Harpst Home in Cedartown.  He was a "Jack of all Trades," and enjoyed buying, refurbishing and selling items.  His favorite items to buy and restore were cars. He enjoyed volunteering, especially working with the seniors at the Tallapoosa Senior Center.  He and his wife, Jean, spent many hours volunteering at local nursing homes and sharing the Gospel.  Jimmy loved his family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 62 years, Jean Robinson Sanders; his son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Debbie Sanders of Temple; his two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Sue Sanders Ezell of Buchanan and Patricia and Earl Sailors of Buchanan; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Syble and Tommy Henderson of Bremen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy will be cremated.  His family is planning a celebration of his life at a later date.  

The family requests no flowers or food,  but that memorial contributions in Jimmy's name be made to the Tallapoosa Senior Center, 160 Windom Street, Tallapoosa, GA 30176.
