Janice Grace (Howard) McWhorter

Janice Grace Howard McWhorter, age 79 of Buchanan, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. She was born in Polk County on November 22, 1942, to the late Hubert Howard and the late Cordelia Carter Howard. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands Jimmy Morris and Owen Kenneth McWhorter and beloved dog, Sam. Janice was known as "Gran" by not only her grandchildren, but by many others, also. She was a CNA for many years for the office of Dr. P.J.  Kim in Bremen, and before retirement, she worked at Countryside Health Center in Buchanan. Her favorite phrases were "Whatever" and "I Know."

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Rick Pettit of Buchanan, and Pam and Joe Heckman of Kingston, TN;  one son, Seth Morris of Milton, FL; eight grandchildren, Cassie (Justin) Wilkins, Grace (Taylor) Smith, Savannah Morris, Alexandria Morris, Jud Morris, Willow Morris, Brittany (Daniel) Wick and Keith (Regina Ward) Heckman; five  great grandchildren, Mac Wilkins, M.J. Smith, Ezekiel Campbell, Roan Heckman and Emersyn Heckman, and several other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Kevin Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: Seth Morris, Joe Heckman, Rick Pettit, Taylor Smith, Justin Wilkins and Johnny Morris.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
