Janell Ploof Akin

Mrs. Janell Ploof Akin, age 88 of Buchanan, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, in a local hospital.  She was born August 12, 1932, to the late Minnie Ola Weaver Ploof and the late Bill Ploof.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Akin and a brother, N.P. Ploof.

Mrs. Akin worked for many years at Arrow Shirt Company. After leaving Arrow, she worked as the janitor for Haralson County School Systems, working at West Haralson Middle School and at the Haralson County Board Office.  Janell was a hard worker who loved her family dearly, enjoyed working in her yard, and loved her Lord and Savior.

Left to cherish her memories are her son and daughter-in-law, Van and Diane Brown of Bremen; her grandchildren, Kristy Nix, Eddie (Jessica) Brown, and Brandon (Julie) Brown; and six great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three sisters, Barbara Hagan of Buchanan, Betty Morris of Buchanan, and Francis Ploof of Buchanan; two brothers, C.W. Ploof of Buchanan and Ralph Ploof of Buchanan, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janell Akin will be conducted Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 2:00 PM from the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ralph Ploof, Rev. Jon Smith, Rev. Drew Norton and Rev. Van Brown officiating. Mrs. Akin will lie in state from 1:00 until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 26th, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel.
