Mrs. Jacqueline Barbara Reeves, age 80 of Buchanan, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, February 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 9, 1941, in Chambers County, AL, she was the only child of the late Samuel Elijah and Doris Smith Lovelace. Jackie married the love of her life, Melvin Reeves, on June 11, 1961. Completing her Bachelors of Arts degree in Education in 1968 at Georgia State University, she taught for twenty-seven years, teaching fifth grade in the Fayette County School System and the Haralson County School System, serving most recently at West Haralson Elementary School. Jackie spent many hours journaling in her Bible and creating scrapbooks for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Enjoying being outdoors, she loved spending time with her family camping and especially driving the pontoon boat. Jackie was a devoted member of the Bremen First Baptist Church..
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years, William Melvin Reeves, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Melodye Reeves; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ricky Pruitt; six grandchildren: Brittany and Brandon Smith, Sarah Clower, Amanda and Erik Fry, Natalie and Kyle Lewis, Lauren and Matt McCammon, and Josh and Kristine Reeves; fifteen precious great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jacqueline Reeves will be conducted Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM, from the First Baptist Church in Bremen with Rev. Hunter Roe and Rev. Brent Reeves officiating. Music will be provided by Lori Easterwood accompanied by Carolyn Oliver, Interment will follow in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Buchanan. Serving as pallbearers will be Trigg Dalrymple, Felton Oliver, Brandon Smith, Bige Smith, Wynn Prescott, Kyle Lewis, Matt McCammon, and Josh Reeves.
The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Bremen from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bremen First Baptist Church Preschool, 331 Pacific Avenue, Bremen, GA 30110.
