Howard Lee Joe of Dunwoody, Georgia, 60, passed away on December 21, 2023 in an accident. He is survived by his wife Melinda, son Howard III (Kaitlyn), daughter Sarah, mother Margie Joe, father Howard Joe, sisters Pam Murray and Adrienne Hart (Beau), sisters in-law Trisha Crews (Greg) and Shari Travers (Robert) and his beloved dog, Sophie.
Howard was born in Augusta, Georgia. He was a lifelong Bulldogs fan and met Melinda while attending the University of Georgia. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be in the finance industry. He grew up reading the stock pages with his grandfather, David Joe, and eventually followed his mother, Margie, into the industry after graduation. He was a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch for 37 years. His love of coaching others was evident in the care and concern he provided to family, friends, clients and colleagues.
Howard was always curious: curious about people, curious about the world, and certainly curious about anything with a motor. He began restoring his first car at age 14 and was a passionate car enthusiast. He wanted to fly from a young age and accomplished his dream of becoming a pilot in 1989. He was also an avid outdoorsman and had an immense love for dogs.
Howard loved his family and friends deeply and fiercely. He will be missed dearly because of the way he showed his love. He was everyone's biggest cheerleader, supporting them in anything and everything they were interested in. He loved to celebrate their successes and was always there to help put setbacks into perspective. Howard loved Melinda for the person she is and always encouraged her to wonder about the world and dream big.
Howard lived life to the fullest, making every day count. He always felt it was important to chase your dreams and help others reach theirs. He will be incredibly missed, but his legacy will live on through his family.
A celebration of life service will be held at North Point Community Church on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 2:00pm in The Attic Room. The church is located at 4350 North Point Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30022, and we recommend using the entrance off Royal Drive.
A reception will be held at Dunwoody Country Club immediately following the celebration of life service.
Cremation services are entrusted to Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Howard was passionate about seeing people reach their goals and supporting places that meant a lot to them. The family would love to learn what charities are special to you. If you aren’t affiliated with any charities, the Joes volunteer at City of Refuge and suggest them as an additional place to donate.
