Gregory "Gig" Stanley Garren

Gregory Stanley "Gig" Garren, age 67 of Buchanan, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Born on December 9, 1955, in Garden City, Michigan, he was the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy Garren.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gaylia Brown Garren whom he had loved for more than 30 years, a sister, Shirley Shepherd, a brother, Gary Garren, and a nephew, Jeremy Garren.

Gig retired as an employee of the state of Georgia and had worked at the Georgia World Congress Center, where he was presented with Service Awards for his outstanding work.  Raised in Mineral Bluff, GA, Gig became an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting all types of wildlife.  He was a simple man who had the gift of storytelling and being a good friend.  He was a tinkerer who loved fixing things. Gig spent many hours watching football and was an Atlanta Falcons fan.  His love of life and his laughter will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn and John Downing of Bremen and Bethany and Jason Seale of Carrollton; his sisters, Tammy Daly of Covington and Barbara (Dante) Daniel of Andrew, NC; and his brothers Jerry (Cindy) Garren of Blue Ridge, Rick Garren of Mineral Bluff and Scott Garren of Mineral Bluff. Also surviving are his precious grandchildren: Chase (Kaitlynn) Garner, Jodee Garner, Kinsley Seale, Walkyr Johnson, Dakota Austin, Kaleb Austin, and  Jacob Downing, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel.

Graveside services for Gregory Garren will be conducted on Tuesday, March 7th at 2:00 PM, at the Bremen City Cemetery with Donnie Johnson officiating.  Music will be provided by Walkyr Johnson and Jeffrey Hulsey..  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jason Seale, John Downing, Mike Stephenson, Chase Garner, Heath Johnson, and Josh Stanley, and serving as honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Johnson, Tony Steed, Walkyr Johnson, Doby Smith, Jacob Downing, and Dakota Austin.
