Derek Joiner

 Derek Joiner of Buchanan, GA died Monday, January 13, 2020 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He was born May 4, 1980 in Baton Rouge, LA to Susan Baird Thacker. He was preceded in death by his sister Hollie Atchley; maternal grandparents, Shirley Merrill and Roger Edward Baird.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and member of the Local Union 91 pipe fitters and employed with Carl Black Super Center in Hiram, GA in the Detail Shop. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel Community Church in Cedartown, GA.

He was survived by his wife Krista Perry Joiner of Buchanan;  2 sons, Austyn Joiner of Locust Fork, AL and Adam Joiner of Oneonta, AL; 1 step-son, Jaedyn Johnson of Buchanan; 2 daughters, Michelle Joiner of Easley, SC and Haley Joiner of Locust Fork, AL; mother and step father Susan and Terry Thacker of Locust Fork, AL; 2 brothers and sisters and law, Ryan and Jessica Foster of Grant, AL, Cameron and Dawn Joiner of Arab, AL; 1 sister, Dawn Atchley of Gardendale, AL; Paternal Grandmother, Shirley Davis of Dora, AL and several other nieces, nephews and friends and family of Alabama and Georgia.

Memorial services will be conducted by the family Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2pm from Wesley Chapel Community Church in Cedartown, GA with Pastor Michael Jack Goss and Rev. Jon Priest officiating. The family will have visitation from 12 noon until the memorial service time.

Hutchesons Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Buchanan is serving the Joiner family.
