Obituary

Carole Johnson, age 61 of Smyrna, passed away in a local hospital on Friday, May 6, 2022, after a brief illness.  She was born on August 29, 1960, in San Antonio, TX, to the late Dorothy Johnson Griner.   She is preceded in death by her husband, Rickie Johnson and her adoptive parents, Barney Leon and Nelda Frances Johnson.  Carole loved to read and crochet in her spare time.  She had worked for a number of years in the newspaper industry, moving from Montgomery, Alabama,  to Georgia to work for the Gwinnett County newspaper.  She also worked for Brumby publications in Marietta, and most recently worked in the computer technology industry. 

Survivors include her sister, Shelia (Jack) Campbell of Woodstock, and her brother Mitchell Leon (Yvette) Johnson of Missouri, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends..

A celebration of life for Carole Johnson will be conducted on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating with eulogies provided by family and friends.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the service hour. A private family interment will be held at New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
