Betty Ezzell Gentry

April 25, 1933 ~ July 19, 2023 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Obituary

Betty Ezzell Gentry, age 90 of Buchanan, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Born at home on April 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Ezzell and the late Myrtle Inez Hutcheson Ezzell. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Odell Gentry to whom she was married 44 years before his death; two sisters, Carolyn Ezzell and Ruth Ezzell and three brothers, Raymond Ezzell, Fred  Ezzell and Mack Ezzell.

Betty was born, grew up and made her family a home in the rolling countryside of Haralson County where family was everything.  She was employed with the Arrow Shirt Company where she retired after 37 years of  service.  During that time she also attended beauty school in Cedartown and obtained her license as a hair dresser.  She strived to make her clients look their best and she never left home without her hair looking its best.  Betty enjoyed working in her yard, mowing the lawn or tending to her flowers.  Working in her vegetable garden also kept her busy and she enjoyed cooking for her family. In her quiet time, Betty enjoyed reading and watching gospel music shows on TV.  She loved her Lord, loved her family dearly, and couldn't wait for the grands and great-grands to visit.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Ellis Jennings,  Carol and Greg Poteet, and Becky Gentry all of Buchanan; one brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Sue Ezzell of Bremen; two grandchildren and their spouses, Will and Kayla Jennings and Katie and Jonathon Seniw.  Also surviving are her precious great grandchildren, Addison Claire Jennings, Anna Beth Seniw and one on the way Hutch Odell Jennings, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Pete Payton, as well as several other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM from The Gentry- Ezzell Family Cemetery on Rockmart Road.
