Barbara Sue (Bishop) McElwee

Barbara Sue Bishop McElwee, age 72 of Bremen, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Cedartown, GA, on November 27, 1950, to Helen Bishop and the late Dell Bishop.  In addition to her father, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Randy McElwee, and her sister, Janice Horn.

Barbara retired from Sewell Manufacturing, Plant 1, after 39 years of service.  She was the most perfect combination of sass and kindness.  Barbara carried the title Momma and Nana with pride.  She loved her family and loved to sit and listen to the adventures in their lives.  Barbara's best friend was her mother, and many adventures were enjoyed by the two.

Left to cherish her memories are her only son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Lynn McElwee of Bremen; her mother, Helen Bishop of Bremen; grandchildren, Lauren (Kyle) King of Bremen, Bryce (Briana) McElwee of Bremen, Kobe McElwee of Douglasville, Cason McElwee of Bremen, Joshua (Logan) Jefferson of Rome, and Olivia Jefferson of Bremen; and two great-grandchildren, Canyon Jefferson and Rhodes Jefferson both of Rome.  Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Brian Horn of North Carolina and other family members and friends.

The family will host a memorial service for Barbara McElwee on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM from Young's Grove Baptist Church in Cedartown, with Pastor Brady West  and Pastor Kermit Pruitt officiating.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Barbara be made to the Young's Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2255 Antioch Rd, Cedartown, GA 30125
