Alona Shepperd Obituary

Mrs. Alona Lee Blankenship Shepperd of Buchanan passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, in a local healthcare facility. She was born September 30, 1946, in Roanoke, VA , to the late Lorenzo and Margie Smith Blankenship. In addition to her parents, Alona is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Shepperd and a son, Gary Wayne Shepperd

Alona worked for more than 30 years at Jim Cash Pharmacy, now Buchanan Drugs. She loved arranging flowers, baking and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Rachel. Alona was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Rockmart.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Noel Shepperd of Buchanan; granddaughter, Rachel Shepperd of Buchanan; two sisters, Sandra Beckner of Salem. VA, and Deloris Feather of Roanoke, VA; and two brothers, Russell Blankenship of Bremen, and Michael Blankenship of Cobin, VA.

Graveside services for Mrs. Alona Shepperd will be conducted at 2:00 PM. Monday, April 19, 2021, at Mt. Zion East Baptist Church Cemetery in Buchanan with Brother Melton Moss officiating.
