Zackary Keegan
Sanders
November 10, 2005 – October 9, 2024
To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
Zackary Keegan Sanders, age 18, passed away on October 9, 2024. He was born to Tyler and Megan Sanders on November 10, 2005. Zack was a 2024 graduate of Haralson County High School, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and powerlifting. He was a member of the 2021-2022 HCHS Region 5-AA Championship Football team. Zack was a state qualifier in wrestling three years and placed twice in state. He also had 145 career wins as a wrestler at HCHS. He was also the 2023 GHSA State Champion in Powerlifting in the 150 weight division. Zack was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, and he was employed by ESD.
Zack was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He was a role model to his teammates and those friendships were deeply rooted within his heart. As a baby, he loved to bounce around to music and Megan nicknamed him "Boogeyman." It was a nickname they kept between themselves until Zack's freshman year when the wrestling team won regionals sending them to state, Megan told Richard Hyatt to call him Boogeyman and he said, "I ain't calling that boy that in public!" When Zack won, he screamed, "Let's go Boogeyman!!" and the rest was history. He was called Boogeyman by Trey Staples as he announced the home football games.
Zack was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Ray and Glenys Carver and his special great-grandmothers, Cordie Bell Green (Poley) and Eris Brown (Mercer).
