Wilber Glen Younkin

Wilber Glen Younkin, age 97 of Tallapoosa, gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.  Born in Somerset Township, Pennsylvania, on February 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles and Blanch Younkin.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Golden Younkin; his step-sons, David R. Allen and Michael J. Allen; his sister Gwendlin; and his brother, Allen LeRoy Younkin.

A gregarious man by nature, Wilber enjoyed talking and telling his stories about his more than 97 years here.  He was a walking road map and could give directions to almost anywhere.  Two of his favorite places in Tallapoosa were Jack's and Waffle House.  A perfect day for Wilber was eating out, riding around, and spending time outdoors.  A man of deep faith and devotion to his Lord, Wilber enjoyed attending church and gospel singings.  He was a devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for many years.  His beautiful smile and loving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter-in-law, Phyllis Allen; his grandchildren:  Bradley, T.J., Cody, Michael, Nicole, Ariel, Jon, Kristen, Marshall, Audrey, Izzak, and Kirby.  Also surviving are a number of great-grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services for Wilber Younkin will be conducted on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Tallapoosa with Pastor Shane Leggett officiating and eulogies by Randy Pate and Ariel Walden.  Following the service, he will be cremated.

The family will receive friends at Pine Grove on Friday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM
