Obituary

Mr. Walter Franklin Tallman, age 74, of Felton passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. Mr. Tallman was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia on September 1, 1936. He was the son of the late John Abraham Selvy and the late Arietta Mae Lovall Tallman. Mr. Tallman was retired from the United States Navy with twenty years service. He served in the Navy from 1954 until 1975. He enjoyed his family, attending Church, fishing, traveling, attending Navy Blue Angels Air Shows and meeting with the Navy Blue Angels pilots and crew members and NAS Pensacola, Florida. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Tallman of Ohio and brother, James Selvy of West Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Louise "Jackie" Sims Tallman of Felton whom he married August 30, 1962 and their son and daughter-in-law, Walter Leroy and Cynthia Tallman of Felton. Mr. Tallman is also survived by two additional sons and daughters-in-law Walter F. Tallman, Jr. and Teresa Tallman of Minerva, OH and Larry Gene and Tonya Talllman of Honea Path, SC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Merle Selvy of Walterboro, SC and John and Arlean Selvy of Powhaton Point, OH; several Grandchildren; and numerous friends of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Brooks and Rev. Scott Benefield officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors provided by the United States Navy in Mount Vernon Baptist Church Memorial Gardens with Rev. Wayne Morris officiating at the graveside. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Ricky Dobbs, Gene McCollum, Bobby Bright, Larry McLarty, Francisco Negri, Courtney White, Ronnie Taylor and Carl Owen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Heyman Hospice Care, P.O. Box 163, Rome, GA 30162-0163 Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
