Mrs. Virginia Mobley Wood, age 91, of Buchanan passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017.  Mrs. Wood was born in Haralson County, Georgia, on May 27, 1925.  She was the daughter of the late Albert Mobley and the late Odell Hardin Mobley.  Mrs. Wood was retired from the Arrow Shirt Company in Buchanan where she worked for over forty years.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Wood; one brother, Earlis B. Mobley; and one nephew, Mitch Mobley.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Levoyd Whitton of Tunnel Hill; one son, Jerry Wood of Tallapoosa; three grandchildren, Kevin Wood, Eric Whitton and Paul Whitton; four great grandchildren, Rebekah Zimmerman, Lee Whitton, Maci Bishop and Bayley Whitton; two great great grandchildren, Avery Zimmerman and Addy Zimmerman; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Duane McManus and Rev. Mike Stinson officiating.  Music will be rendered by the Poseyville United Methodist Church Choir under the direction of Maxine House.  Interment will follow in the Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Eric Whitton, Paul Whitton, Mark Mobley, Billy Sprayberry, Blake Mobley and Ty Sprayberry.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
