Violet Ann Norton Fortner, age 66 of Buchanan, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in a local hospital. Born in Haralson County on February 21, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Norton and the late Bessie Causey Norton.  In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Bone; her sisters, Diane Grimsley, Carolyn Cash, and Annette Wyatt; and her brothers, Bobby Norton, Danny Ray Norton, Roger Norton, and Max Norton.

Violet was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family fiercely.  Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.  Violet also enjoyed being outdoors whether she was camping, fishing, or working in her flower garden.  Her faith was strong and she was a faithful member of Welcome Baptist Church.  Her family will miss her dearly, but they know she is in heaven and had a wonderful reunion with her family.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, of 48 years, Donald Fortner of Buchanan; her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie & Amanda Fortner of Rome; her precious grandchildren: Blake & Megan, Madison, Brianna, Joanna, Jesse, Julion, T.J., Amanda, and Crystal; and her sweet great-grandchild, Blakeleigh.  Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Violet Fortner will be conducted Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Welcome Baptist Church with Brother Raymond Cash, Brother Oscar Cash, and Brother Ryan Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Violet will be taken home to the family residence at 542 Buchanan By-Pass. The family will receive friends beginning on Monday, June 2nd at 6:00 PM and Tuesday, June 3rd.  The procession to the church will leave the family residence on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
