IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vickie Maye
(Freeburg) Resene
December 19, 1944 – June 29, 2024
Vickie Maye Freeburg Resene, age 79, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Spencer, Iowa, on December 19, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Gus Freeburg, Sr. and the late Florence Tuttle Freeburg. In addition to her parents, Vickie is preceded in death by her brother, Gus Freeburg, Jr. and her granddaughter Sabrina Taylor MacDowell.
Being a dietician in a nursing facility, Vickie believed in presenting food that was tasty and was arranged properly on the plate. She was also the consummate care giver, and she especially enjoyed taking care of the elderly and special needs patients. Her care giving nature definitely carried over to her family, especially her grands and great-grands. Whether it was a stuffed animal or a piece of candy, she always had something to give as well as her love. Often, Vickie could be found in one of her many hats that she loved and her pink lipstick. Her guilty pleasure was shopping and she was an expert shopper.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law: Tana (Ricky) Sullivan of Buchanan, Regina (Ricky) Shirley of Buchanan, Teru (Jerry) Chumley of Buchanan, Kimberly (Greg) Johnson of Bremen, Rachel (Jeff) Kilgore of Waco, and Sabrina (Jeff) Collier of Florida; and her sister, Valarie Newby of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving are her precious grandchildren: Stephanie, Christine, R.J., Presley, Tara, Darron, Ashton, Kristi, Kevin, Kristin, Brooke, Joshua, Kayla, Laurie Beth, Kaitlyn, Kayla, C.J. Nick, Reggi, Brandon, and Jessica; 46 great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
The family is planning a memorial service to take place at a later date.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of this family.
