Vera Elaine Miller Smith, age 78 of Tallapoosa, passed away early Thursday morning, June 6, 2024, at her residence.  Born in Haralson County on July 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Vera Addison Miller.  In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Campbell, a son, Michael Smith, and a number of brothers and sisters.

Married to Roger Smith for more than 60 years, Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family as well as working on word searches.  Granny, as she was affectionately called, spent many memorable nights with her grandchildren watching horror movies and telling ghost stories.  The family is going to miss her dearly.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Roger Smith; her children, Vickie Smith of Tallapoosa and Mickey (Cindy) Smith of Buchanan; her daughter-in-law, Tracey Smith of Buchanan; and her precious grandchildren: Ashley (Bradley) Blue, Ciera Cohran, Terry Smith, Amber (Cody) Cole, Hannah (Dalton) Frair, Jacey (Kody Brown) Smith, Baylie (Brandon) Bell, Britin (Julie) Smith, Preslyn Smith, Trager Smith, and Kerrigan Smith.  Also surviving are her brothers and sister, William Miller, Noble Miller, Horace Miller, and Annie Ruth Hammick, all of Buchanan; her great-grandchildren: J.T. and Makenzie Tittle, Brantley Jordan, Jameson Smith, Paizley, Payton and Chevi Cole, Seger Frair, Westin Brown, Bristol Bell, and Raelynn and Riley Smith; as well as other extended family and friends

Funeral services for Elaine Smith will be conducted Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Elder Max Kimball and Elder Steve Kimball officiating.  Interment will follow in the Brannon-Perryman Cemetery in Buchanan with the following serving as pallbearers: Cody Cole, Terry Smith, Kody Brown, Brandon Bell, Benjie Miller and William Miller. Serving as honorary pallbearers: JT Tittle and Britin Smith.

The Smith family will receive friends on Friday evening at the chapel from 6:00 until 9:00.
