Mrs. Vera Buchanan Melear, age 90, of Temple passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010. Mrs. Melear was born in Paulding County on May 22, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Buchanan and the late Ethel Bradley Buchanan. Mrs. Melear was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Taft Melear; one sister, Melba McMillan; and three brothers, Alton Buchanan, Elbert Buchanan and Jasper Buchanan. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Howard Price of Temple; two grandchildren, Scott Price and Tammy and her husband Kelly Smith; three great grandchildren, Danielle Smith, Kelsey Smith and Thomas Price; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. from Draketown Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Weaver and Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in the Draketown Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Kelly Smith, James Johnson, Tommy Salls, Bruce Rollins, Charles Hubbard and Edward Craig. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
