Mrs. Velma Louise Wells Paxton, age 86, of Felton passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013. Mrs. Paxton was born in Haralson County on June 30, 1926. She was the daughter of the late George Wells and the late Selma Wright Wells. Mrs. Paxton was retired from Hubbard Slacks in Bremen. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Finley Paxton; two sisters, Annice Statham and Ollie Bell; six brothers, John Wells, Jim Wills, Hubert Wells, Tom Wells, Dub Wells and Baxter "Buck" Wells.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Paula Paxton of Belleair Beach, FL; one brother, A.G. "Doc" Wells of Chattanooga; one grandchild, Jessica Stewart; four great grandchildren, Justin Stewart, Neely Stewart, Kaley Stewart and Samuel Stewart; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 27, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from Dugdown Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Brannon and Danny Hutcheson officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens Mausoleum with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Ronald Wells, Bo Cook, Bubba Cook, Bunk Cook, Larry Wells and David Wells.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
