Mrs. Valeria Payton Weldon, age 85, of 78 Depot St., Buchanan passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Mrs. Weldon was born in Haralson County on January 7, 1922. She was the daughter of the late George A. Payton and the late Cordie Ayers Payton. Mrs. Weldon was retired from the Arrow Shirt Company. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. Weldon and two sisters, Mozelle Brannon and Joy Faye Carroll. Survivors include one son, Jerry Weldon of Buchanan; one sister, Troy Lee Brown of Buchanan; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Cunningham Turner officiating. Music will be rendered by Jeremy Wilkes. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Joe Weldon, Allen Weldon, Jack Brown, Gary Duke, Ryan Duke and Payton Carroll. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
