Mrs. Thelma Houston Meeks, age 82, of 101 Davenport Place, Buchanan passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007. Mrs. Meeks was born in Haralson County on February 22, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Loyd Houston and the late Hattie Morris Houston. Mrs. Houston was retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company where she worked as a weaver. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Meeks; three sisters, Fannie Martin, Ruth Howard and Gladys Harris. Survivors include one daughter, Sue Meeks of Porterdale; one son, Dewey Meeks of Buchanan; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 19, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wendell Rush officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
