IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sterling Edward
Cook
April 10, 1936 – January 12, 2025
Sterling Cook, age 88 of Carrollton, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Haralson County on April 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Ollie Cook and the late Lora Worthy Cook. In addition to his parents, Sterling is preceded in death by his sisters Emily Windom and Darlene Cook, and his brothers Melbern Cook and O'Neal Cook.
A jokester at heart who loved to make other people laugh, Sterling had the best sense of humor. However, being with his family was most important to him. Pop spent many hours playing with the grandchildren doing whatever they wanted to do. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later retired from his work as a brick mason. At 1:00, Sterling would be found in front of the television watching his favorite show, "Gunsmoke." He also enjoyed doing word search puzzles in his leisure. Sterling was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Carrollton.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 66 years, Betty Lou Simpson Cook of Carrollton; his daughters and sons-in-law, Louise & Dennis Hutcheson of Bremen and Elaine Sutton & Scottie Cochran of Bremen; his son and daughter-in-law, Steven & Dawn Cook of Carrollton; and his precious grandchildren: Kenneth (Desiree) Hutcheson, Drew (Haley) Hutcheson, T.J. (Lyndsey) Sutton, Holly (Andrew) Partridge, Amy (Joseph) Hudgins, and Haley (Lane Nelms) Cook. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren; his sisters, Madelyn Crumpler, Ollie Faye Bradbary, Rachel Pollard, Patricia Edwards, Retha Sue Adams, Sandra Gordon, and Judy Brown; his brothers, Homer Cook and Dearl Cook; as well as several other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services for Sterling Cook will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Keith Horsley officiating and Holly Partridge and Haley Cook giving the eulogies. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Kenneth Hutcheson, Drew Hutcheson, Dennis Hutcheson, T.J. Sutton, Chad Cook, and Lane Nelms.
