Ms. Sonya Ann Brooks Dobbs, age 70, of Temple passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Ms. Dobbs was born in Marietta on July 24, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Radford S. Brooks and the late Ara Lowe Brooks. Ms. Dobbs was a retired assistant administrator with the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Sonya was a faithful member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church. She was also an avid gardener and painter and also enjoyed camping and sewing. Sonya loved her dog Peaches very much. After God her family was who she lived for.

Survivors include one son, Mark Dobbs and his wife Grace Ou of Roswell; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gail L. and David Medlock of Lawrenceville and Sue B. Chandler of Ephesus; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Danny S. and Sue Brooks of Cornelia, Larry L. and Pam Brooks of Temple and Carl B. Brooks of Franklin; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Rooks officiating. Music will be rendered by Kersha Cartwright, Kiley Thompson and Beleta Anderson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12 Noon until 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Backpack Program, c/o Buchanan United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 342, Buchanan, GA 30113; or to the American Cancer Society; or to a worthy charity of your choice.
