Shirley Jean McKee

Shirley Jean Bentley McKee, of Temple, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home with family on Easter morning, April 5, 2026. She was born at home on September 27, 1953, in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late Roland Bentley and the late Bertha Mae Britt. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her siblings, Verna Bentley, Mary Goolsby, Jerry Bentley, and Hubert Bentley.

Shirley dedicated her life to caring for others and was fiercely devoted to the people she loved. As a wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she poured herself into those around her. Even those not related by blood often claimed her as family, and she loved them just the same. She was affectionately known as “Maw Maw” by almost everyone she met and had a special gift for making others feel like family.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She had a spunky spirit and playful nature that brought laughter to those around her. She was truly a character and will be deeply missed.

Shirley is survived by her husband and love of her life of over 56 years, Farron McKee, of Temple, Georgia; her daughters, Rachel DeStefani (Edward), of Charlotte, North Carolina, Amanda League of Temple, Georgia, and Amy McKee of Villa Rica, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Danica League, Micah League and Adam DeStefani; and her great-grandchildren, Preston League and Veda League.  Also surviving are her siblings, Roy Bentley and Kathy Eason.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are encouraged to come together to share stories, laughter, and joyful memories in her honor.
