Obituary

Shirley Ann Patterson, age 82 of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Oakland, California, on October 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Hollingsworth  and the late Barbara Palmer Simmons.  In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Patterson, her son David Robert Patterson, a grandson, Dylan Pope; a great-grandson, Gage Brinegar; her sister, Bonnie Jackson, and her brother, Clinton Hollingsworth, Jr.

Shirley loved her family dearly and spent hours making family photo albums of pictures she had taken.  She also enjoyed baking cakes, and in her younger years stayed very active with weekly aerobics.  One of Shirley's favorite holidays was Halloween and she always had a great costume ready.  She loved all animals and was known by many as the "Cat Lady."  Shirley's passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Ricky Folsom of Tallapoosa; her grandchildren: Heather & Brian Garner, Brittney  & Allen Nelson, and Ray & Brandi Patterson; and her great-grandchildren, Alyssa Pope, Bristol Patterson, Keegan Nelson, Riley Patterson, and Jada Kirk.  Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Buttons.

In keeping with her wishes, Shirley will be cremated.  No services are planned at this time.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of the Patterson family.
