Shelba Jean Lee, age 80, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023. She was born in the Felton Community on November 16, 1942, the daughter of the late Sam Lee and the late Effiecile McWhorter Lee. In addition to her parents, Shelba is preceded in death by her great grandson, David, and her sister and brother-in-law: Charlotte and Wayne Bartley and .Pete Bates.
Shelba loved being around people, especially her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing. She worked at several manufacturing plants, but she truly enjoyed her job as a hair dresser. Shelba had many faithful customers whom she dearly loved. Her favorite job was her last one, working as a Cobb County school bus monitor. In her later years as her health began to fail, Shelba enjoyed watching TV, especially Alabama football and gospel singing.
Left to cherish her memories are her only daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jessie Roberts of Ohatchee, AL; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Larry Ivey of Villa Rica, Tiny Bates of Bremen, and Janice and Barry Folsom of Mableton; and her grandchildren: Amanda Smith, Miranda Smith, Misty Perez, and Shelby Roberts. Also surviving are her precious great-grandchildren: Randy, Sam, Brandon, Jessica, Aliza, Sanchez, Adam, Christopher, and Addison; and her great great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Shelby, Natalie, S.J. and Damien, as well as many other family members.
Funeral services for Shelba Lee will be conducted Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 4:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
