Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Holcombe Rainey, age 89, of Buchanan passed away Monday, December 28, 2015.  Mrs. Rainey was born in Buchanan, Georgia on November 14, 1926.  She was the daughter of the late John K. Holcombe and the late Bessie Mae Gentry Holcombe. Mrs. Rainey was retired from the Arrow Shirt Company in Buchanan where she worked for forty-four years.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Glin Rainey; six sisters, Maureen Brooks, Helen Mullins, Ruth Allred, Georgimae Brannam, Hazel Johnson and Bonnie Singleton; two brothers, L.D. Holcombe and Jack Holcombe.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Patricia Rainey of Buchanan; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Marianna Brewer of Buchanan, Joyce Cash of Buchanan and Charlotte and Charlie Simpkins of Buchanan; three grandchildren, Laurie Campbell (Kenny Hughes), Don Rainey (Tracy) and Russell Rainey (Beth); nine great grandchildren, Cason Campbell, Dustin Campbell, Montana Campbell, Baylee Campbell, Brady Hughes, Allison Rainey, Hayden Rainey, Kathryn Rainey, Wiliam Rainey; one great great grandchild , Cooper Campbell; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. from Buchanan United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Rooks and Dr. Allen Wilburn officiating.  Music will be rendered by Gary Singleton, Jason Singleton, Kersha Cartwright, Kiley Thompson and Beleta Anderson.  Private interment will be in Buchanan City Cemetery.  The great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
