Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Grubbs Burgess, age 91, of Tallapoosa passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015.  Mrs. Burgess was born in Molena, Georgia on November 6, 1923.  She was the daughter of the late Dr. John Henry Grubbs, MD and the late Lena Bell Grubbs.  Mrs. Burgess obtained multiple college degrees from LaGrange College, Jacksonville State University and West Georgia College where she earned her Master's Degree.  She taught school in Haralson County for over thirty years.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Max Paul Burgess, DDS; and one sister, Mary Jordan.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Greenway of Fort Worth, TX and Nancy Owens of Tallapoosa; one son and daughter-in-law, Max and Mary Burgess of Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren, Andrew Burgess, Julie Biggers and Eric Greenway; seven great grandchildren, Harrison Burgess, Sarah Beth Biggers, Aaron Biggers, Jack Biggers, Maggie Biggers, Lane Biggers and Devyn Greenway; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Judge J. Edward Hulsey and Julie Biggers officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday afternoon from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
