Mr. Sam Sparks, age 69, of Buchanan (the Felton community) passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014. Mr. Sparks was born in Haralson County on February 7, 1945. He was the son of the late Hubert David Sparks and the late Bernice Lee Sparks. Mr. Sparks was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Susan Odom; two sisters, Amy Finnell and Jimmie Lou White; and two brothers, Dan Sparks and Jody Sparks.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Dewberry Sparks of Buchanan; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Christy Odom of Tallapoosa; one sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Wayne Cox of Buchanan; one brother and sister-in-law, Amos and Karen Sparks of Buchanan; sister-in-law, Sarah Sparks of Cedartown; brother-n-law, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Dewberry of Villa Rica; two grandchildren, John and his wife Ashley Odom and Kati Odom all of Tallapoosa; two great grandchildren, Kensley Odom and Allie Odom both of Tallapoosa; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Buddy Gentry and Rev. Richard Brannon officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in Centre Baptist Church Cemetery in Felton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 P.m. until 8:00 P.M.
