Mrs. Ruth Powell Thorne, age 72, of Rockmart formerly of Bremen passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015.  Mrs. Thorne was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 14, 1942.  She was the daughter of the late Fred Powell and the late Ruby Edwards Powell.  Mrs. Thorne was retired from Meggitt, Rockmart plant.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jacinda Cox.

Survivors include husband, Robert Thorne of Rockmart; three daughters and one son-in-law, Elaine Glass of Dickson, TN, Ann and Allen Johnson of Wedowee, AL and Lynn Wilson of Cartersville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Don and Laura Wilson of Bremen, Kevin and Janice Wilson of Tallapoosa and Scott Wilson of Holcomb, MO; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Juanita Kelley and Virginia and Carl Ward all of Tallapoosa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Evelyn Powell and Wilford and Pat Powell all of Tallapoosa; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will conducted Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Argo, Rev. Danny Mason and Rev. Mark Hanson officiating.  Interment will follow in Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery, Bremen, with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Don Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Scott Wilson, Allen Johnson, Chad Cox, Lee Wilson and Brett Moss.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
