Roy Edward Patterson, Jr., age 76 of Lincoln, Alabama, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Leeds, Alabama, on March 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Roy Edward Patterson, Sr. and the late Evelyn Frances Turner Patterson.
Roy was a graduate of Jefferson State Community College with both Bachelor and Master degrees in Drafting. For more than 20 years, he worked as an engineer at Borden Engineering. After retiring from Borden, Roy found fulfillment in teaching at Bessemer Tech High School, where he taught for 15 years. Never one to be idle, he founded ELS Landscaping and worked for himself for more than 20 years. Living on Logan Martin Lake, Roy enjoyed fishing and riding in his boat. He also enjoyed photography, traveling, and going to the casinos. For many years, Roy was a part of an organization that investigated UFO sightings. His intelligence and love of his family will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his son, Brandon Scott Patterson of Cedartown; his grandsons, Logan Scott Patterson and Brady Drake Patterson; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Renee Cash (Mark) of Ashville, Alabama, and Margaret Ann Patterson Fleming (Sherman) of Pell City, Alabama. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In keeping with Roy's wishes, he will be cremated. The family is planning a celebration of his life in Alabama at a later date.
