Robert W. Smith, age 70 of Bremen, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on March 18, 1953, in Tallapoosa to the late Forrest Edwin Smith and the late Mary Florence Lambert Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wendall Eugene Carroll.
Robert was a proud 1971 graduate of Haralson County High School. Recently retiring, he had worked for several years as a Building and Codes Enforcer for the Haralson County Board of Commissioners. Robert helped revitalize and was the chair of the Haralson County Republican Party for more than 20 years. He was also an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves play. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was his passion. Robert spent many hours supporting and attending their various sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kaye Carroll Smith; children, Hannah and Marc Morin of Carrollton, Leesa and Wayne Jiles of Carrollton and Shane and Tracy Carden of Dallas; brother, James and Janice Smith of Cumming; grandchildren, Tristan and AnaBelle Morin, Ashley and Cody Campbell, Case and Cadie Jiles, Kaylee Jiles, Tiffany Elrod, Hannah Huffstickler, Hailey Huffstickler and Rayden Carden; great grandchildren, Brylee, Daylan and Jud Campbell, Star Pool, Joseph Bunch, JuliAna Ward, Kellan Wein, Melody Hart and Ava Isbell; mother-in-law, Virginia Carroll of Bremen and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Robert Smith will be conducted on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from the Bremen First Baptist Church at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Hunter Roe officiating. Eulogies will be given by Leesa Jiles and Case Jiles. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the following serving as pallbearers: Shane Carden, Marc Morin, Wayne Jiles, Case Jiles, Tristin Morin and Cody Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday at the church from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
