Obituary

Mr. Robert Hamilton Richie, age 67, of Bremen passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Mr. Richie was born in Bremen on June 7, 1945. He was the son of the late Robert Earl Richie and the late Jeanette Cartwright Richie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Keith Richie.

Mr. Richie was a graduate of Bremen High School and served in the United States Army (stationed in Korea). He was also a former City of Atlanta Police Officer, Justice of the Peace and Bremen City Councilman. Among the many awards he received, two of the most notable are Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary and being named an honorary Georgia State Trooper. Mr. Richie was the President and CEO of Summit 66 Oil Company and Richie 66 Service Station. Both of these businesses were opened over 50 years ago by his late father. He also was very generous in sponsoring many area youth sports teams over the years. Whoever said you can''t buy happiness from your dog. Robert''s dog, Frankie (17 years of age), provided constant companionship and many days of happy moments. Robert loved his dog!

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn White Richie of Bremen; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kristi Richie of Esom Hill; Kimberly and Scott Brown of Peachtree City and Amy and Jared Muse of Bremen; one sister and brother-in-law, Nan and Commodore Philpot of Buchanan; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mary Richie of Dade City, FL; two grandchildren, Jake Brown and Brayden Muse; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be conduced Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from Bremen First United Methodist Church with Danny Hutcheson and Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. Also speaking will be Dr. Stephen Richie, Terry White and Lynn Clark. Music will be rendered by Kersha Cartwright accompanied at the piano by Maxine House. Military honors will be provided by the Haralson County Veterans Association.

The family will receive friends at Branham Hall of Bremen First United Methodist Church Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
