Robert "Bobby" Dowdy, age 89 of Bremen, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025.  Born in Haralson County on July 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Lawrence Dowdy and the late Ruby Davis Dowdy.

In 1956, Bobby began driving a bus for the Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit System known as MARTA.  He retired in 1996 with more than 37 years of service.  He spent two years, from 1958 - 1960, proudly serving our country in the United States Army, and then for 1 more year as he was called up in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis.  Bobby was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed boating and water skiing.  Another favorite pastime was traveling with his family, and they spent many summer vacations in Savannah.  In the summer, he could also be found working in his garden.  He will be dearly missed by his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of more than 68 years, Frances Davenport Dowdy of Bremen; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Denise Dowdy of West Columbia, South Carolina; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joe Zebeau of Cedartown; and his grandson, Hayden Zebeau

Funeral services for Bobby Dowdy will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 5:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ronald Carroll and Pastor Steve Fetkenhour officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
