Mr. Rickey Steve Ward, Sr., age 58, of 1498 Coppermine Rd., Buchanan passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008. Mr. Ward was born in Carroll County on October 20, 1950. Mr. Ward was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was also a member of many veterans organizations including the American Legion and the Haralson County Veterans Association. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by one brother, Garon Adams. Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Phillips Ward of Buchanan; one son, Ricky S. Ward, Jr. of Bremen; mother, Ila Gess of Carrollton; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry F. and Irene Robinson of Germany, Felix and Pat Robinson of Carrollton, Phillip and Sandra Adams of Bowdon and Greg and Dee Adams of Temple; three nieces, two nephews; one great nephew and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Harris and Rev. Scott Cranford officiating. Bagpipes will be played by Winter Taylor. Interment will follow in Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery in Paulding County with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: David Wooten, Durell Wright, Josh Dobbs, Tony Robinson, Johnny Cook and Robert Nichols. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Cook, Colton Cook, Danny Pate, Phillip Martin, Frank Bangs, Jerry Kilgore, Bob Humphries, Jack Moses, Gene Tatum and Steve Gable. The Haralson County Veterans Association will be in charge of the graveside services. The escort will be provided by the Patriot Guard Riders. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
